One of the more bizarre stories of this Flyers season has officially come to a close.
Christopher Moorhouse, who threw a banana in the direction of Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds during a September exhibition game between the Flyers and Red Wings, has been fined $200. The 26-year-old Moorhouse was given 90 days to pay the fine, according to The Globe and Mail.
Moorhouse was charged with provincial trespassing since there wasn't enough evidence to charge him with a hate crime, according to the report. His lawyer has gone on record saying that his client didn't realize throwing a banana at a black player could be viewed as racist.
Umm, yeah, and we didn't realize throwing a ham sandwich at Andy Reid could be viewed as entrapment. Blame Canada — again.
