Flyers Notebook: Jagr hurts calf, status uncertain

Flyers wing pulled early in second period due to injury. Not benched.

Jaromir Jagr knew after his second shift of the second period that something wasn’t right.

The Flyers wing was removed with 15:11 left in the second and never returned. Jagr was hit in the calf earlier this week and couldn’t skate at full speed during yesterday’s Winter Classic.

“I just couldn’t skate hard and I didn’t want to just be [on the ice] to be there. I knew at that point I couldn’t help my teammates,” Jagr said.

Jagr sat on the bench to support his teammates. He said if there had been a power-play opportunity, he would have tried to go back out.

“Maybe we get a shot at a 5-on-3 [power play] and you don’t have to skate that much,” Jagr said.

The Flyers didn't update Jagr's status moving forward. He'll most likely be monitored on a day-to-day basis. The team returns to action Thursday, when it hosts the Blackhawks (yes, indoors) at the Wells Fargo Center.
