Flyers Notebook: Team signs Bourdon, top pick Laughton

The Flyers have re-signed defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon to a multi-year contract extension, according to GM Paul Holmgren. The Orange and Black also agreed to terms with first-round pick Scott Laughton on a three-year, entry-level deal.

Bourdon, 22, appeared in 45 games last season and contributed four goals, with a plus-4 rating. He adds much-needed depth on the blue line after the Flyers lost Andrej Meszaros to a possible season-ending injury Tuesday.

Laughton, 18, was the 20th overall pick in June’s NHL draft. The center racked up 53 points in 64 games for the OHL’s Oshawa Generals last season.

With an NHL lockout looming, the Flyers haven’t announced a training camp schedule. The first preseason game is scheduled for Sept. 25 against Chicago.
