‘Game of Thrones’ season two: Fighting for the right to rule

Three things

… a super fan of the ‘GOT’ book series demands of Season 2:

As
George R.R. Martin and the HBO team take “Game of Thrones” into the next
chapter, we present three spoiler-free hopes for the series from a
die-hard fan of the books.

1. Battles

Season 1
concluded without much in the way of epic battling, but our heroes may
not be so fortunate this time around. If the second book’s epic battles
play out onscreen, we hope these scenes don’t skimp on scale.

2. Daenerys

Our
young princess’s story weaves carefully throughout the books’ chapters.
Her appearances in the adaptation ought to be handled with similar
care.

3. Universal sympathy

One of the most thrilling
aspects of the books is the way Martin’s prose leaves the line between
good and evil mostly ambiguous. As the TV series goes forward, it will
be important for its producers to maintain this balance — rather than
reverting to the tired tropes of Very Bad vs. Exceptionally Good.

“Game of Thrones” premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. on HBO.
