Giants blown out by Saints

They never had a chance.

Sometimes a loss is close. Sometimes painfully so. Sometimes if you got just one more possession. Not last night in New Orleans.

The Giants were outplayed from the word go as they lost 49-24 to the Saints, dropping them to a game back of Dallas in the NFC East.

The Saints received the opening kickoff and marched down the field, but came up short on fourth down when they tried a fake field goal. They continued to move the ball easily on their second drive though, going 80 yards in 4:35 for a touchdown and lead they would never relinquish.

New Orleans scored touchdowns on four straight possessions — the last two of the first half and first two of the second half — to make it a laugher down the stretch. Drew Brees finished with five touchdowns (one rushing).

The Giants will host the defending champion Packers next week with a .500 record on the line.
