Four weeks ago it didn’t look like the Giants would have any meaningful games the rest of the season. Now they are getting ready for two back-to-back.
The Giants face the Cowboys this weekend — and the Eagles the following week — with a legitimate chance at still contending for the NFC East division. The Eagles are in first place at 6-5, while the Cowboys are 5-5 and the Giants are one game back at 4-6.
The focus for now is squarely on the Cowboys and no one on the Giants need to be told how important the game is.
“This week, if you’re looking for motivation for this week, something is wrong with you,” linebacker Jon Beason said. “Those guys over there, they’re talented every year. [Tony] Romo is a great quarterback. He can buy time with his legs, he makes unbelievable plays. It’s a typical Giants-Cowboys matchup and you have to expect that. We’re not looking for any extra motivation or motivations there.”
With the Chiefs losing Sunday night, the Giants’ win streak of four is now behind just Seattle and Carolina for the longest active streak in the league.
“We just weren’t getting any bounces our way, whether it be the six turnovers that we had [in Week 1 against Dallas] or us not running the ball well and passing the ball good,” running back Andre Brown said. “Now we just want to go out there and have a balanced offense so we can go out there and get a win.”
Jason Pierre-Paul drew some attention following the win over the Packers on Sunday, when he said the game in Dallas would draw blood.
“It’s going to be a fight,” Pierre-Paul told reporters. “It’s going to be a dogfight. There’s going to be a lot of blood spilled out there.”
