1. Sam Shields
The playmaker
The cornerback’s eyes lit up as Caleb Hanie’s duck soared into his hands, as his late interception secured the George S. Halas Trophy for the Packers. Shields, who hadn’t recorded an INT since Dec. 26, also picked off Jay Cutler and notched his first career sack. Green Bay’s defense forced three picks and could’ve had two more.
2. Greg Jennings
Receiving the call
The speedy receiver opened the title tilt with catches of 22 and 26 yards before Aaron Rodgers capped the Packers’ opening drive with a 1-yard TD run. On a relatively pedestrian day for Rodgers (17-of-30 for 244 yards), Jennings still hauled in eight balls for 130 yards — and has caught 16 for 231 yards in his last two games.
3. Tim Masthay
Get your kicks
Are we really handing out a game ball to a punter? Yes. Although we should credit the entire special teams unit, who had a masterful game plan to contain Devin Hester. The Bears electric punt returner fielded just three punts for 16 yards. Meanwhile, Masthay sported a 41.8-yard punt average, including a 65-yarder.
4. Brian Urlacher
Center of attention
Even in defeat, the ageless linebacker put on a show. Every time the cameras panned on the Bears’ defense, Urlacher was shouting instructions and coaching up his teammates. The 32-year-old finished with 10 tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss and an interception that looked like it might result in a TD — until Aaron Rodgers tripped him up.
