Time to start looking at the bright side of a probable non-playoff season in Flushing for the Mets.
Due to injuries and lack of performance, they learned Ike Davis and Angel Pagan are everyday players and Jonathon Niese can be a solid starter. Now, the Mets are determining whether Pat Misch, Josh Thole and Bobby Parnell can be key components to the franchise’s future.

“To come up with these guys and to play in spring training the past couple years with them, it makes me excited for their future, too. They’re great guys and fun to be around, so hopefully we stay here,” Parnell said.
The hard throwing right-hander will, along with Hisanori Takahashi, have opportunities in the final five weeks to show he can close.
“I think we got some great guys in the minor leagues and there’s still a bunch down there that can play in the big leagues,”?Jerry Manuel said. “The coaching staff down there … the work ethic of these guys, it shows you how well the Mets organization is run [in] the minor leagues and all that.”
