This much is certain: Tim Tebow is still on the Jets roster. But he may or may not be a part of the quarterback competition moving forward.

Tebow remains the most intriguing piece on the Jets’ roster despite his rare appearances on the field last season. Acquired last March in a trade with Denver, Tebow failed to live up to the hype and ended up on the outside of the Jets’ lackluster quarterback competition.

It looks like little has changed in that regard, per general manager John Idzik, who refused to include Tebow among those challenging Mark Sanchez for the starting job.

“I’m not saying he is, I’m not saying he isn’t. I’m just saying let’s let things play out,” Idzik said yesterday.

Idzik said “we have to let things play out and develop” with regard to Tebow’s future with the team. Reports have the Jets looking to trade Tebow before the NFL Draft.

“He’s a New York Jet, it shouldn’t be surprising. He’s a Jet and we’ve gone through some change here,” Idzik said. “That’s what I mean by letting things play out.”
