(The Sports Xchange) - EJ Manuel will start at quarterback for the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, but interim head coach Anthony Lynn made it clear the decision to bench Tyrod Taylor in the season finale came from the front office.

"I can't speak for the owner. I can't speak for the GM. They'll have to speak for themselves," Lynn said on Wednesday of the "business decision" to sit Taylor rather than risk injury that would trigger a $30 million guarantee for 2017.

Taylor, signed to a long-term contract extension before the start of the 2016 season, joined the Bills following four seasons as a Ravens back-up after a strong endorsement from then-head coach Rex Ryan.

Owner Terry Pegula and general manager Doug Whaley have not offered comments beyond a statement when Ryan was fired earlier this week.

Whaley is scheduled to meet with media on Monday, the day after the season ends with the Bills out of the postseason for the 17th consecutive season.

Lynn was offensive coordinator from Week 3 until being promoted to interim coach on Tuesday. He expects to be interviewed for the position when the Bills formally interview candidates to replace Ryan as head coach.
