Next stop, Buffalo.

Oday Aboushi is no longer a New York Jet, the third-year guard cut by the team one-day after he came off the league’s suspended list. The fifth round pick, taken in the 2013 NFL Draft, was suspended by the NFL for one week following a motor vehicle arrest where marijuana was found on his possession.

The decision to cut ties with Aboushi, who had 10 starts last year when Brian Winters went down with a season-ending injury, comes as little surprise since he had fallen down the team’s depth chart during training camp. The Brooklyn native made strides last year, especially in re-shaping his body after a rookie season where he didn’t see the field. He was known for being strong in the ground game as well as being a notoriously good trash talker in practice.

The Jets did not make a corresponding roster move as Aboushi was on the suspended list and did not count against the 53-man roster.

It would not be surprising to see Aboushi end up with the Buffalo Bills, who have become a halfway house for a number of Jets players. The Bills are coached by Rex Ryan, who was fired from the Jets after a 4-12 season in 2014.

Ryan drafted Aboushi out of Virginia in 2013.
