Jets re-sign kicker Nick Folk

An almost unnervingly quiet offseason for the Jets continued with the team re-signing Nick Folk for what will be the kicker’s third season with the team. Folk also handles kickoff duties for the Jets.

The deal with Folk was made public on Wednesday afternoon, but terms were not announced. A team source told Metro New York that Folk signed a one-year deal with no option years.

Folk made 76 percent of his field goal attempts last season, good for 29th in the league among kickers, but his six attempts of 50 yards or more was among the highest of all kickers. He infamously made a 50-yard game-winning field goal with 32 seconds remaining in the 27-24 win in Week 1 over the Cowboys, perhaps the high-water mark of the Jets season.

He made his first 11 field goal tries of the year, finally missing on his second field-goal attempt of a Week 9 win over Buffalo.

Also on Wednesday, the Jets announced that they waived wide receiver Michael Campbell and released safety Gerald Alexander.
