Jets storylines to watch

1 Can Favre still sling it like old times?

Brett Favre’s reckless, impromptu style of play is now costing his team games. The gunslinger, who led the Jets to a 9-7 record in 2008, has just two touchdowns and six interceptions this season.

With the return of OLB Calvin Pace, expect rushes on Favre, who added Randy Moss as a target.

“He’s still throws it like the old saying, ‘He can throw a strawberry through a battleship,’” Jets coach Rex Ryan said.

2 Will the?Jets be able to pound and ground?

Mark Sanchez threw three touchdowns in wins over New England and Miami, but the running game carried the Jets last week in Buffalo. Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson have their work cut out for them tonight against the ninth-ranked rush defense.

“They’re going to play their seven-man box and dare us to run and we’re going to run, then … mix in the play-action passes,” said offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

3 Can Holmes make an immediate impact?

Fresh off a four-game suspension, Santonio Holmes returns to a Jets’ offense that has just one turnover and is as balanced and efficient as any in the NFL.

“The way the guys are rolling, I just want to come in, fill in, play my part and move on to the next week,” said the former Super Bowl MVP, who clicked with Sanchez during training camp.
