John Lackey surgery is tomorrow

The Red Sox expect the right-hander to be out for 2012.

Red Sox starter John Lackey is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery tomorrow, according to this blog entry.

Dr. Lewis Yocum will operate on the starter in California.

Lackey posted the worst season of his career in 2011; his 6.41 ERA was nearly two runs more than his previous high. He's expected to miss all of 2012.

If there's a silver lining to Lackey's terrible season, it's this: He won 12 games, proving once and for all that wins is a meaningless statistic in the modern game.
