The Red Sox and current A’s lefty Jon Lester both seem genuinely interested in re-uniting next season, just two weeks after a blockbuster trade.

“At the end of the season it’s not going to change my mind about going back [to Boston] if they are aggressive and competitive and do the things they say they’re going to do,” Lester told the Boston Herald. “Boston is definitely a place I would go.”

Red Sox manager John Farrell told WEEI that he is hopeful Lester returns.

“We know that once the free agent season opens, he’s going to have an opportunity,” Farrell said Wednesday. “He’s durable he’s productive, he’s done it in Boston, there’s a great comfort level with everyone here.”
