After a wild weekend, college football’s national championship picture is a bit clearer this morning.
That’s not good news for everyone.
BCS buster fans are surely feeling a bit down after perennial Cinderella Boise State gifted Nevada a victory, tumbling to No. 9 in the AP Top 25.
Meanwhile, Auburn backers are likely still nursing hangovers after the Tigers’ stunning comeback win over in-state rival Alabama. The 28-27 victory, keyed by (who else?) Cam Newton, kept the SEC leaders second in the national rankings.
Top-ranked Oregon moved within a game of a BCS Championship Game berth when it held off Arizona, 48-29.
The Ducks have Oregon State on Saturday. Auburn has South Carolina in the SEC title game.
If one falters, No. 3 TCU will likely move up into a spot in the BCS final.
