Knicks’ Jason Kidd arrested for DWI

This is not how you want to endear yourself to your new team.

Newly signed point guard Jason Kidd was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated early Sunday, according to Southampton police. Police report that Kidd was involved in a minor, one-car accident at 1:56 a.m. in which Kidd struck a telephone pole in his Cadillac Escalade.

He was treated for minor injuries and released into police custody, where he was charged. He was released on his own recognizance.

Kidd was announced as a new member of the Knicks on Thursday after signing a three-year deal for the mini mid-level exemption of just over $3 million per year. He talked about providing a mature, veteran presence for the team.
