Looking to Week 10: Jets notebook

Santonio Holmes had five catches for 114 yards against the Lions, his highest reception total and most receiving yards since joining the Jets…Speaking of Holmes, since the former Steelers wide receiver joined the team in Week 5, tight end Dustin Keller’s productivity has been halved. But on Sunday, Keller had four catches, his highest reception total since Holmes joined the team after his league mandated suspension…Sanchez was 22 of 39 for 323 yards — a career-high for the second-year quarterback.

In the battle of the kick returners, Stefan Logan, statistically the third-highest ranked returner in the NFL, bested Brad Smith, the second-best returner in the league and the top returner in the AFC. Logan averaged 28.8 yards on his four returns, compared to Smith’s 27.3 average on four punts…Sticking with special teams, one week after missing a 37-yard field goal, Nick Folk made all three of his attempts on Sunday and both his PATs.

With eight tackles, David Harris once again led the Jets defense in stops. It has been three straight weeks that Harris has topped the Jets tackles list, made more impressive by the fact he was plagued with back issues this past week. Harris is in the final year of his contract and might just be making a statement…The Jets topped 100 yards rushing for the 10th straight game, the second-highest active streak in the NFL behind Kansas City…All week long, the Jets talked about getting back to the basics and running the ball more. So much for that – of 70 offensive plays, the Jets ran the ball just 30 times.

Much like the Jets, the Lions had lots of penalties. All told, Detroit had the referees whistle them for 11 plays for 102 yards. “By far the dirtiest football team I’ve ever played against since the Tennessee Titans,” said linebacker Bart Scott…Hailing from Michigan, Calvin Pace had a solid afternoon that included six tackles…Six Jets receivers had at least two catches in the game.

On Monday, head coach Rex Ryan said that there were just “bumps and bruises” from Sunday’s win in Detroit. Jason Taylor and Damien Woody had injuries to their fingers but that was the extent of the injury report…This Sunday, the Ryan brothers will face off as Rex’s brother Rob is on the Cleveland coaching staff… “It’s going to be brutal, there is no doubt, it’s going to be bad. I’m sure we’ll talk about each other’s children, wives, whatever. So, yes, it’s going to get ugly,” Rex said.
