'Mad Men,' 'Modern Family' top Emmy nominations

Don’t mess with Oscar winner Kate Winslet.
That’s the take-away from today’s nominations for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards. The actress’s HBO mini-series “Mildred Pierce,” a noir-esque period drama based on the 1941 James M. Cain novel about one mother's rise and downfall at the hands of her demanding daughter, took away 21 nominations at today’s announcement, including nods for stars Kate Winslet and Evan Rachel Wood.
Perennial favorite, AMC’s “Mad Men,” walked away with 19 nominations, including best drama series and acting nominations for its stars Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss. Last year’s top comedy winner, ABC's "Modern Family," scored a total of 17 nominations, with stars Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara as finalists. Meanwhile, Fox’s uber-popular TV show “Glee” didn’t score as many accolades as last year — the show received only 12 nominations including best comedy and supporting acting (Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch again) but struck out when it came to best actor/actress.
Here is the list for this year's nominations.
