Mets tripped out

The healthy lineup has been anything but helpful for the Mets.

They dropped to third place in the NL?East after finishing 2-9 on a lengthy road trip to open the second half. The Mets went scoreless in the final 16 innings and endured four shutouts, including yesterday’s 1-0 loss to the Dodgers. Casey Blake scored the game’s only run on Russell Martin’s double in the eighth.

“There’s no question that everybody is frustrated,” David Wright said. “I think it adds to the frustration that our starters have been throwing the ball extremely well and our bullpen’s been solid. We just can’t get any runs for them.”

Neither a healthy Carlos Beltran nor Luis Castillo could help turn the tides for the Mets, who have been limited to four runs or fewer in 15 of 16 games.

“It was a tough trip, very tough,” manager Jerry Manuel said.
