More like it: Red Sox getting on roll

For the first time this season, the Red Sox are on a winning streak.

For the first time this season, the Red Sox are on a winning streak.

(Remember those? It’s when a team wins a game ... then wins again. Weird, right?)

Jon Lester pitched six innings of one-run ball, Jacoby Ellsbury homered and the bullpen shut the door in an 8-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays yesterday.

Yes, things are finally looking up on Yawkey Way. The bats are heating up, Lester and Josh Beckett have harnessed their old forms and even Jarrod Saltalamacchia is looking like a real, live major leaguer.

After entering yesterday’s contest with the worst record in the bigs, the Sox are just a win away from taking the four-game series against Toronto outright.

Unfortunately, Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-2, 12.86 ERA, 2.71 WHIP) is on the mound for today’s 11:05 a.m. Patriots Day start at Fenway Park.
