More QB issues after loss to ND

Chase Rettig’s first college touchdown toss against Notre Dame on Saturday night was everything he dreamed it would be.

Unfortunately for him, the black boot he sported opposite his white Converse after Boston College’s 31-13 loss wasn’t a fashion statement.

The blue-chip recruit sprained his ankle in the second quarter against ND.

“X-rays were negative,” BC coach Frank Spaziani said yesterday. “He’s not practicing today. Where we go with that depends on how he responds to treatment.”

Mike Marscovetra threw for 193 yards in relief of Rettig, but was picked off twice.

It’s unclear if Rettig can start Saturday against North Carolina State.

“I know we all want to talk about who the quarterback is and what the situation is,” Spaziani said after BC (2-2) managed just five rushing yards, “but there are other problems that were not quarterback, OK? It’s been a while since we played some defense like that.”
