Nets deflated after dropping triple-overtime thriller

It was a night that began with a crush of media around former Nets coach Jason Kidd, who was booed in pregame introductions. Eventually it became a winnable game that slipped away with a 122-118 triple overtime loss to the Bucks.

When it ended after three hours of wild swings, the fact that Brook Lopez scored 26 points was rendered meaningless. It was moot because the plays that the Nets didn’t make were far more meaningful than those they did.

“It was gritty game that we didn’t win,” LionelHollins said. “Looked like at the end we didn’t have enough juice.”

The Nets lucked into getting the first extra five minutes when to the stunned disbelief of anyone in the building, Bucks guard Brandon Knight missed a wide-open layup after stealing a Joe Johnson pass with 2.9 seconds remaining. When Knight’s right-handed layup didn’t enough to go through the Nets were granted a reprieve but couldn’t take advantage as Johnson missed a game-winner on the final possession of the second overtime.

“We had our chances to win,” Johnson said. “We also gave ourselves a lot of chances to lose. It was tough.”

“I’m definitely concerned with five straight losses,” Williams said. “Who wouldn’t be? We got to figure it out soon.”

In the end it was not good enough to overcome and again it’s back to the drawing board for the Nets.
