Nets fire Frank after 0-16 start

Lawrence Frank’s losing streak with the Nets finally came to an end yesterday — not with a win but with his termination.

Frank was fired yesterday afternoon after an 0-16 start this season. Frank posted a 225-241 record in six and a half seasons.

Nets assistant coach Tom Barrise was expected to coach the team’s game against the Lakers in Los Angeles last night. That game ended too late for this edition. The Nets are expected to make a permanent hire later this week, with the top candidates including assistant coach John Loyer and general manager Kiki Vandeweghe. Neither has been an NBA head coach.

Frank, who was in the final year of his contract, led the Nets to the playoffs in his first four seasons but never advanced past the second round.
