Alan Anderson will be the Nets’ top shooting guard off the bench.

The Nets were looking for 3-point shooting help, and while they couldn’t ink veteran Kyle Korver or Euro swingman Bojan Bogdanovic they did sign Alan Anderson to a deal Wednesday.
Anderson has played four years in the NBA for the Bobcats and Raptors with a five-year stint overseas in between. He played with the Raptors the past two seasons. His Nets deal is for one year and just under $1 million.
“It’s exciting to be around, just to be a part of the organization and this journey we’re about to go on,” Anderson said after signing his deal Wednesday morning.
With Marshon Brooks, Kris Humphries and Keith Bogans going back to Boston in the Kevin Garnett-Paul Pierce trade earlier this month, the Nets were in need of additional bench help.
Anderson averaged 10.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in 65 games in 2012-13. The 6-foot-6 Anderson is a perimeter player and solid outside shooter. He shot 33 percent from behind the arc last season on 4.4 attempts per game. He shot 39 percent on 3.6 attempts per game in 2011-12.
His length also makes him a solid defender on the outside.
The Minnesota native was a big Garnett fan growing up and attended his basketball camp, where he met the Timberwolves star and developed a friendship with him.
