The NHL has yet to announce the Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Finals series schedule between the Bruins and Penguins. The league may elect to hold off on the schedule release until the Western Conference semi-finals wrap up. Chicago and Detroit play Game 6 of their series Monday night and San Jose and Los Angeles conclude their series Tuesday with a Game 7.

Having Game 1 Thursday at CONSOL Energy Center and Game 2 Saturday at CONSOL would be the most likely scenario given that TD Garden in Boston is booked next Sunday, June 2 and Monday, June 3 with the pop group New Kids on the Block in concert. Game 3 could then be played at the Garden on Tuesday, June 4, giving the two teams two days of rest as the series shifts cities.

Bruins notes: The Bruins enjoyed an off-day on Memorial Day Monday, save for injured defenseman Andrew Ference. Ference worked out with team trainers at TD Garden Monday and head coach Claude Julien said that Ference has been skating again in recent days.

Boston will have a major roster decision to make in the coming days if Ference is ready to go for a portion of the team’s Eastern Conference Finals series against Pittsburgh. Both Torey Krug and Matt Bartkowski have contributed greatly to the Bruins playoff run this spring but one of the two will likely be removed from the lineup if Ference makes a comeback.
