The lone bright spot from the New York Giants in Week 5 continues to be Damon Harrison.  The defensive tackle was sparkling on Sunday in a home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, one of just a couple reasons to stand up and cheer for the 0-5 Giants.

Harrison had four total tackles in the loss as he continues to prove why he is one of the game’s top interior defensive linemen. And while he doesn’t have a sack this year, Harrison earned one of the highest grades of the week according to acclaimed site Pro Football Focus, earning a 91.2 grade.

“He had four run stops on 21 run snaps and four hurries on 24 pass rushes,” Pro Football Focus’ Ryan A. Smith noted in his weekly notes. “Four pressures are the most Harrison has had in a game over his six-year NFL career that spans 2,543 snaps.”

The performance is part and parcel of the reason why Harrison was one of the most expensive players in all of free agency last year.

The Giants also are getting solid performances from Harrison’s teammate along the line Dalvin Tomlinson. The rookie, a second round pick out of Alabama, has been a welcome addition to the interior of the Giants front four.

According to PFF’s Smith, Tomlinson had just a single tackle but “he consistently disrupted run plays forcing running backs to cut.” He received a grade of 83.6 from Pro Football Focus.
