The Calgary Flames host the San Jose Sharks tonight in a Western Conference clash at 9 p.m. ET at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The season series between these division foes is tied 1-1. After tonight's contest, they will meet again just one more time before the playoffs start.
The Flames are 34-14-5 with 73 points and are first in the Western Conference. Calgary is 8-1-1 in their last 10 games and are eight points back of the Lightning for the top spot in the NHL.
Left winger, Johnny Gaudreau has 29 goals this year, he is one of four skaters with 20 or more goals this season. Gaudreau is one goal shy of tying his career high of 30 goals which he set back in 2015-16.
The Sharks are third in the West and are four points back of Calgary for the top spot. San Jose is 31-16-7 with 69 points and is currently on a three-game win streak.
San Jose will have their work cut out for them tonight because they tend to struggle on the road this season, they are 13-12-3 away from home ice.
One of the Sharks strengths is their special teams; they are fifth in the league on the power play, with a 24.5% success rate and they are ninth in penalty kill percentage, converting on 82.5% of their opportunities.
