With Patrice Bergeron again out of the lineup, Adam Hall’s goal for Tampa Bay just 13 seconds into last night’s Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals looked to have the Bruins on the ropes.
But then came the offense.
Boston scored five second-period goals in its 6-5 victory at the Garden, sending the series to Tampa Bay tied at 1. Game 3 is tomorrow night (8 p.m., VS., 98.5 FM).
The B’s didn’t just win a game: They found a new star. Rookie sensation Tyler Seguin — scratched through much of the postseason — scored twice in that wild second period, moving his scoring total to three goals in two games against the Lightning.
Tampa Bay dominated early, with Hall and St. Louis finding the net at the beginning and end of the first. Only Nathan Horton’s power-play goal 14 minutes in salvaged the frame for Boston.
But Seguin and David Krejci scored in the first 2:24 of the second, and Seguin’s second goal made it 4-2 6:30 into the frame.
After Vincent Lecavalier brought Tampa Bay within 1 a minute later, Michael Ryder potted a pair to close the period.
It was, naturally, far from a banner night for either of the star goalies. Dwayne Roloson was pulled after surrendering his sixth goal on 27 total shots.
