It rained again in Boston yesterday, so apparently there’s a limit to Tyler Seguin’s powers.
But the electric rookie sure took care of the Lightning on Tuesday night, brightening the spirits of the Bruins faithful with his two-goal, four-point onslaught, leading the Bruins to a 6-5 victory and 1-1 tie in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference finals.
“In big games, I always want to step up,” Seguin said. “I had some lucky bounces, but I was trying to take advantage of all the opportunities. And they were going in.”
Game 2 was arguably the wildest contest of the postseason, with the Bruins barely clinging to their one-goal lead in the final minutes. Considering the Bruins and Lightning were the two best defensive teams entering the series, a two-game total of 18 goals is hardly the prepared script as the teams prepare for Game 3 tonight in Tampa.
“It was a strange game and we both, for the most part, were sound defensively,” Bruins forward Mark Recchi said. “It was unusual, but I expect it to be much different when we both go back down there, to be the style we both usually play. It will be hard, another close one coming up, so we have a lot of work to do.”
It could be a little bit easier if Patrice Bergeron (concussion) is finally cleared to play.
Bergie on the verge of return
Patrice Bergeron will definitely be on the ice in Tampa today.
Whether it’s just for the morning skate or in the actual game is up in the air.
“[This] morning, he is going to be on the ice,” coach Claude Julien said, “and I have a feeling that at that point there are going to be discussions on whether he is ready to go or not.”
Bergeron missed Games 1 and 2.
