Nimble Manuel says Phils owe Yanks one
Charlie Manuel retreated to Winter Haven, Fla. after the WorldSeries. The Phillies skipper tried his best to put baseball and theYankees in his rear-view mirror.
Charlie Manuel said he only talked to three players this offseason: newcomers Danys Baez, Placido Polanco and Brian Schneider. Don’t think he isn’t keeping tabs on everyone else.
Head athletic trainer Scott Sheridan informed him that Cole Hamels has been working out all winter.
He expects the lefty to work on adding a third pitch to his arsenal in spring training. Manuel believes a consistent curveball will make his changeup and fastball even stronger, especially against left-handed hitters.
“It doesn’t matter to me if it’s his curveball or if he comes up with a slider,” Manuel said.
