Nothing against the women's college game, but it's not exactly known for its parity. Just one of the last nine title games didn't feature UConn, Tennessee or Baylor. Stanford's right up there, too, with four straight Final Four appearances.
So to see the Huskies and Cardinal bow out -- in consecutive games, no less -- is shocking.
And good, too.
If you didn't watch the national semifinals, you missed something special. Texas A&M looked as determined as any team in its comeback against Stanford, and Notre Dame played with similar abandon in knocking off UConn, the Team Everyone Had Already Crowned Champion. More upsets like that, and the women's game might start getting the respect it deserves.
