On the slate: Clash of styles

Any way you slice it, the Patriots have become one of the best teams in the NFL this season.

Their 5-1 record is even with the Jets and the Steelers. They’ve scored 177 points — most in the AFC East — and are riding a four-game winning streak.

Still, though, the Vikings are the story going into this weekend’s matchup in Foxborough.

Call it personality vs. results.

Minnesota has the man who dominates ESPN each offseason in Brett Favre, a hardly shy wideout in Randy Moss and an absolute fantasy stud in Adrian Peterson.

Great players, the lot of them. But they’ve amounted to a 2-4 record — second-to-last in the NFC North.

New England, meanwhile, is shaping up as a “more than the sum of its parts” kind of club.
Tom Brady makes headlines, sure.

But outside of him, where are the juicy storylines? Pardon us for not caring which club BenJarvus Green-Ellis went to last night.

Is one approach better than the other??Sunday’s result will surely show something.
