One to go for the Jumbos

The Tufts men’s lacrosse team is one win from another national title.

The Jumbos topped RIT 16-12 in yesterday’s NCAA Division III national semifinals. Attack Sean Kirwan scored four goals to lead the charge.

Next up for Tufts: A repeat date with Salisbury in the national championship game. The Jumbos beat the Sea Gulls 9-6 to win last year’s D-III title.

The title game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Tufts has absolutely caught fire since postseason play opened. They lost their last regular-season game (at Bowdoin on April 29), but won three straight in the NESCAC tournament, and have beaten Union, Cortland State and RIT in the NCAAs.

D.J. Hessler led the Jumbos with 90 points in 20 regular-season games. Kirwan scored the most goals (65).
