A.J. Burnett tossed eight shutout innings, Jonathan Papelbon earned his eighth straight save and the Phillies offense scraped together just enough offense to defeat the Diamondbacks 2-0 Sunday night.

After ten games out west, the Phillies return home with a 13-12 record (6-4 during the road trip).

The first run came on a Chase Utley single that drove in speedster Ben Revere. Marlon Byrd knocked in the second run, an infield single that drove in Chase Utley (advancing home after a throw hit him as he ran to third).

Revere, Utley and Byrd each had two hits in the game, giving the squad wins in six of their last eight games after losing their first two games of the road trip against the Rockies.

Burnett’s masterful performance saw him wring up eight Diamondbacks and lower his ERA to 2.15 for the season.

The Phillies have an off day Monday before hosting the Mets for a pair of games starting Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Phillies get lucky, won't face injured Harper

After missing out on facing Rangers ace Yu Darvish and Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw earlier in April, the Phillies will host a depeleted Nationals at Citizens Bank Park this coming weekend.

The Nationals placed slugging outfielder Bryce Harper on the disabled list (thumb) this weekend.

Harper will join another offensive juggernaut on Washington’s DL, third baseman Ryan Zimmerman.

The Nationals lineup issues, combined with two days of rest in the next four should give the Phillies a good chance to fend off their NL East foe.

The days off will also allow the Phillies, should they choose, to shuffle their starting rotation a bit, perhaps moving Cole Hamels, Cliff Lee or A.J. Burnett up a day.
