Playing the Field: Terrell Suggs, Shannon Sharpe blast Patriots

So much for that whole “act like you’ve been there before.”

The Ravens dispatched the Patriots with surprising ease in yesterday’s AFC Championship game. And Ravens defensive end Terrell Suggs apparently had no problem reminding them about it … before even leaving the stadium.

“These are the most arrogant pricks in the world, starting with [Bill] Belichick on down,” Suggs told reporters walking off the field after the win. “Tell them to have fun at the Pro Bowl. Arrogant [f–kers].”

Well then.

And then he went to the Spygate critique.

“That’s funny, ever since Spygate, they can’t seem to get it done,” Suggs joked, dripping with sarcasm. “I don’t know what it is.”

To be fair, they haven’t won a title since the Spygate controversy, but they have been to two titles since then. Tom Brady is actually now 7-7 in the playoffs over his last 14 games — since they won their third title.

It’s hard to hear, but here is the video of Suggs ripping the Patriots and Belichick after the game on the Ravens postgame show.

And so as not be left out, former Ravens tight end and current CBS talking head Shannon Sharpe ripped Belichick for blowing off CBS sideline reporter Steve Tasker after the game.

Rarely does Sharpe have anything worthwhile (let alone coherent) to say, but he’s dead on about this one. Belichick is the worst loser in sports, not just football. Give us a “Good luck to them. They were better than us today,” and move on. It’s not hard.

Phelps rocks the lip sweater

By the way, I really have nothing important to say about this, but did you see Ravens superfan/Olympic great Michael Phelps after the game yesterday!?

He’s got a mustache! And it’s horrifying!

I’m sure he said something very insightful in that interview, but all I could do was stare at that monstrosity consuming his upper lip. I know you’re gonna need to find something to do in retirement, Michael, but I didn’t think it would be 70s-era porn.
