A high-flying opening week of the 2018/19 season allowed owners of fantasy Premier League teams to get a first glimpse at just how well their teams could be.

Liverpool's Sadio Mane and Watford's Roberto Pereyra led the way in Matchday 1 with each attacker recording a brace, which is good for 16 points in fantasy Premier League play. Mane did so against West Ham as Liverpool look to state its early intentions as Premier League favorites while Pereyra ripped apart Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy wasn't too far behind with 15 points of his own as he had a pair of assists to go with a clean sheet against Arsenal in the first marquee matchup of the season.

Matchday 2, beginning on Saturday, Aug. 18, provides another slate of tantalizing matches, including Arsenal matching up against Chelsea in an early North vs. West London derby, where there will be plenty of low-cost dark horses to insert into your lineup that could bring some success in your league.

Here a few ahead of GW2:

Fantasy Premier League cheap GK pick: Ben Foster, Watford (£4.5 million)

Coming off a clean sheet against Brighton & Hove Albion, Foster will be facing off against a Burnley side that has scored just two goals in its last five Premier League matches dating back to last season.

Fantasy Premier League cheap DEF pick: Luke Shaw, Manchester United (£5 million)

Don't expect the goals to come often from Luke Shaw considering his tally last week against Leicester was his first in 143 career Premier League appearances. Regardless, he had a strong showing for United despite the Red Devils conceding a late goal in a 2-1 victory. For a starting left back, he's cheap, especially on a team like United who will be playing Bright & Hove Albion, who looked poor against Watford in Matchday 1.

Fantasy Premier League cheap MF pick: James Maddison, Leicester (£6.5 million)

While he only picked up two fantasy points against Manchester United over the weekend, Leicester's new signing looked bright in his Premier League debut with the Foxes. He looked comfortable in attack and showed flashes of the kind of skill that open up defenses around the box. He could have a coming out party of sorts this week against a much weaker opponent in Wolverhampton.

Fantasy Premier League cheap FWD pick: Callum Wilson, Bournemouth (£6 million)

Wilson made fantasy owners who took a chance on him in GW1 very happy when he tallied a goal and an assist against Cardiff. As a budget striker, he could put up similar numbers against a disorganized West Ham side that was ripped to shreds by Liverpool over the weekend.
