Red Sox dump Jays, 7-2

Boston took the first game of their weekend set with Toronto.

The Red Sox (27-25) took Game 1 of their three-game set with the Blue Jays at The Rogers Centre Friday night, 7-2.

Clay Buchholz earned his fifth win of the season for Boston, pitching 8 innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits.

David Ortiz and Adrian Gonzalez provided the early damage for the Red Sox with a home run and RBI single, respectively.

Boston had a big seventh inning to separate themselves from Toronto, scoring four runs courtesy of big hits by Daniel Nava, Ortiz and Gonazalez.
