Red Sox dump Tampa to kick off second half

Boston is now 44-43 on the season.

Franklin Morales (2-2) started off the second half with one of his finer pitching performances, allowing just two hits while not allowing a run in five innings of work, as the Red Sox beat Tampa Bay, 3-1, Friday night at Tropicana Field.

David Ortiz homered in the first and Pedro Ciriaco drove in Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Ryan Sweeney in the third.
