Red Sox looking far and wide for manager, pitching help

The Red Sox will meet with LA Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach on Friday to discuss the vacant managerial post in Boston, multiple reports said Thursday.

San Diego special assistant and former major league catcher Brad Ausmus is also scheduled to interview for the job with Boston.

The next big thing?

Japanese high school pitching stud Shohei Otani has met with several major league teams including the Red Sox, WEEI.com reported yesterday.

The 18-year-old right-handed hurler routinely hits 100 mph, according to reports.

Texas and the LA Dodgers have also met with Otani, according to WEEI.
