The Red Sox are set to name White Sox bullpen coach Juan Nieves as their pitching coach, multiple outlets reported Wednesday.
Rick Peterson was considered the favorite for the open position for the better part of a week.
The 47-year-old Nieves has spent the past 14 years as a pitching coach in the White Sox system. Nieves was no slouch in his playing career in MLB as he threw the first no-hitter in Milwaukee Brewers history in 1987.
