Red Sox own first place

The Red Sox slugged themselves back into first place last night, beating Baltimore 10-4 behind a barrage of home runs.

Boston slugged six out of the park — one each from Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia, Adrian Gonzalez, David Ortiz, Josh Reddick and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. The homers accounted for nearly half their hits last night (six of 13), and moved them past the 100-HR mark on the season.

Only the Yankees, Rangers and Blue Jays have gone deep more than the Sox this season.

Boston has actually had tons of trouble getting the ball out of Fenway Park. They lead the majors in road home runs (55), but are just mid-pack at home (47, compared to Texas’ league-best 75).
