Red Sox vault past Jays 5-1

For over six innings Tuesday night the Red Sox offense looked as though it would never get anyone across the plate. That changed in the seventh inning with two outs when Jarrod Saltalamacchia clocked a home run to left and Dustin Pedroia singled home Ryan Kalish and Daniel Nava as Boston grabbed a 3-1 lead over Toronto. Boston would improve to 39-35 on the year with the 5-1 win.

Daisuke Matsuzaka had a solid start for the Red Sox, going 5.2 innings, allowing just one run on six hits. Andrew Miller picked up the win for Boston.

The Red Sox have a matinee against the Blue Jays at Fenway Park Wednesday (1:30).
