Reports are making the rounds that the Red Sox are considering trading for Royals pitcher Bruce Chen to start a potential tiebreaker tomorrow.
Chen, a 34-year-old from Panama, went 12-8 with a 3.98 ERA for Kansas City this year. He's 4-2 with a 3.75 ERA in 16 career appearances (11 starts) against Tampa Bay.
If the name sounds familiar, it's because Chen pitched five games for Boston in 2003. All were in May; two were (unimpressive) starts.
The hurler would likely cost the Sox a pair of prospects.
