Revis: I want Ocho

In the geography of the Jets secondary landscape, the man known as “Revis Island” is hoping to have “Alcrotraz” next to him next season.

In the geography of the Jets secondary landscape, the man known as “Revis Island” is hoping to have “Alcrotraz” next to him next season.

All-Pro Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie helped the Jets to a second straight AFC championship appearance. Even more impressive, the corner duo allowed the second-fewest pass completions in the league at 264 and led the league with just a 50.7 pass completion percentage.

“I am going to try and help the process,” Revis told Metro during Super Bowl week in Dallas. “I plan to call Rex [Ryan] and Mike Tannenbaum and do anything I can to help keep him here. I want him to stay here and be with us for the future.”

Cromartie is just one of the many free agents the Jets will have to court this offseason.

"I'm sure he wants to stay," Revis said. "He's a tremendous player, a great player."

Revis is also looking to help his team on the offensive side of the ball.

Over the weekend, Revis had the ear of Chad Ochocinco, the standout and flamboyant Bengals wide receiver. As part of his sponsorship deal with Motorola, Revis is part of OCNN, the Ochocinco News Network, and both were credentialed members of the media for Super Bowl week.

As his boss, Ochocinco worked Revis like an intern, making the lockdown corner “get coffee for him and make McDonald’s runs.” In return, Revis has worked over the idea of Ochocinco playing in green next season.

“I want Chad to come here and play for us, to be a Jet,” Revis said. “I’ve been in his ear a lot about it this week ... I think he could do well here. I’ve been telling him to come here.”

He may not be a part of the Bengals future plans as new Cincinnati
offensive coordinator Jay Gruden failed to mention either Ochocinco or
fellow wide out Terrell Owens in his introductory news conference last
week. Plus, Ochocinco seemed open to the idea last month when he declared, “I would do anything to play for someone like Rex Ryan.”

He clammed up during Super Bowl week, though.

“I cannot speak about that right now,” Ochocinco told Metro.
