Jets fans once took Rex Ryan’s word as gospel. But New York’s boisterous head coach has lost much of that trust due to the team’s downward trend since its AFC Championship Game appearances.
Ryan now wants Jets fans to “move forward,” particularly when it comes to the way they treat quarterback Mark Sanchez.
“Our fans have a right to do anything. I’m not going to say I’m disappointed with the fans. But I think we need to move forward,” Ryan said Monday. “The things in the past are in the past. Let’s focus on what we have in front of us. We’re all going to make mistakes. I had a bad year also last year. Hopefully our fans are all united 100 percent.”
Many Jets fans jeered Sanchez during a team scrimmage last weekend.
