Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said quarterback Mark Sanchez could have surgery on his left knee this offseason.

“It would certainly be much sooner than later,” Tannenbaum said Thursday, then added that any surgery would have Sanchez back “well before training camp.”

Who will join him there remains to be seen. Tannenbaum revealed some of his offseason strategy, which includes plans to offer tender to Leon Washington, Braylon Edwards and Kellen Clemens. He also wants former first-round pick Vernon Gholston back next season.
