Well, we know at least one Phillie will be playing in the All-Star Game. Roy Halladay was chosen to start tonight’s game for the National League.

“It’s always a great experience to come and play here, and to get a chance to go out and compete against the best players is something you look forward to,” Halladay said.

Halladay is 11-3 with a 2.45 ERA through his first 19 starts this season. The right-hander becomes the first Phillie to start since Curt Schilling in 1999, and the fourth pitcher to make an All-Star start for both leagues.

Halladay said he spoke with Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee before accepting the nod. He is expected to throw two innings tonight, bumping his next start back to next Monday or Tuesday.

“As long as we handle it on the back end, it’s not a health concern,” Halladay said.
