Frosinone hosts Lazio in a Serie A contest this afternoon at 12:50 p.m. ET at the Stadio Benito Stirpe. The last time these teams met was back on Sept. 2 where Lazio came out on top 1-0.
Frosinone is having a very disappointing season; they are 2-7-12 with just 13 points on the year and are 19th in the Serie A out of 20 teams. Frosinone needs to get to at least 17th in the standings otherwise they will be relegated down to Serie B, Italy’s second tier league.
But there is a glimmer of hope after Frosinone defeated Bologna 4-0 back on Jan. 27. Paolo Ghiglione and Andrea Pinamonti each scored a goal in the contest and Camillo Ciano tallied two of his own.
Their struggles come on both ends of the field; they are 18th in goals conceded with 42 and are last in goals scored with just 16 on the season. Ciano leads the team with six goals. He is one of three players who have two or more goals on the year.
Lazio is right in the middle of the pack in the Serie A. They are 9-5-7 with 32 points and are eighth in the standings. They are one point back of Sampdoria for the sixth spot and three points back of AS Roma for the fifth spot to qualify for the Europa League.
Lazio is coming off a 4-3 shootout victory over Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals on Jan. 31. They now advance to the semifinals and will face AC Milan for a chance to play in the finals.
Forward, Ciro Immobile leads the team with 11 goals on the season. His 11 goals tie him with Empoli’s Francesco Caputo for sixth in the league.
