Athletes are following more and more trends set by Hollywood celebrities. From partying to tweeting and now dating. Athletes are becoming exclusively involved with other athletes.
WNBA star Candace Parker married NBA dud Sheldon Williams, former tennis players Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi got hitched, Serena Williams has dated a couple of NFL players and baseball player Nomar Garciaparra married soccer star Mia Hamm, just to name a few.
Well, here’s the latest athlete pairing: Maria Sharapova and Sasha Vujacic.
You’re probably not all that familiar with Vujacic, but we’ll break it down. He’s a struggling European shooter, who seems enamored with the bright lights of Hollywood (supposedly, he had a fling with Paris Hilton). He’s a 6-foot-7 guard who comes off the bench for the defending champs. He’s only 25 and alternatively does the spiky hair thing or grows it long — he could easily pass for a boy bander.
At first, Vujacic sidestepped allegations that he and the tennis goddess were dating after media members spotted them together at a U2 concert. He had the temerity to say, “Go ask Lamar Odom about his relationship with a celebrity.”
Then, the two were spotted hand-in-hand getting coffee in L.A. over the weekend.
Question: Is their athletic offspring more likely to excel in basketball or tennis? Whatever the answer, one thing’s for sure, Sasha replaces Shelden as the ultimate sloth who got the supermodel.
